Dang. This year’s already got me on the run and it’s barely just begun. I’ve been chained to my desk the last three weeks, translating one book after another and just barely keeping up with my deadlines. I have this terrible habit of taking way too much time with novels in particular because there are…

One day at school, Youta Tada sees someone strange entering school. Out of nowhere this being appears next to him and makes him fall from the third floor! But before he hits the ground, he wakes up in a strange world where beings like dragons exist! Youta then meets a young paladin named Lumi and discovers that he is the only man on the entire planet, and also that its inhabitants are extremely ‘weak’ to his presence or more specifically, his touch. Would this be a paradise?
Usually, the common interpretation for the scene in Ep 4 in which Beatrice tries to have Battler remember which is his sin, is that Meta Beatrice wanted for Battler to acknowledge her motive, to acknowledge he had hurt her, to push the blame for the tragedy on him, that the more he’s not remembering his promise, the more he’s hurting her so, when he insists he can’t remember and he seems dismissive of the whole matter, she basically retaliates by hurting him, first by telling him he’s to blame for what had happened, then by denying his identity by attacking the tie he loves the most, the one he had with his mother.
In short, she’s basically taking her revenge on him, retaliating for the way he hurt her.
However, after reading Ep 8 chap 37 we discovered that, in Prime, ‘Beatrice’ realized that blaming Battler would have been an excuse and took full responsibility for having caused the tragedy (a thing she also does in Ep 8 chap 25 manga version in front of Ange) going so far as to encourage him to kill her…
… and that ‘Beatrice’ is aware that, despite this, instead than taking it out on her, Battler acknowledged her pain, didn’t blame her, felt guilty he couldn’t help her, understood she was trying to help him at the moment, thanked her, took responsibility for what Beatrice did and volunteered to shoulder the blame with her.
Also, even if she declared she would remain on Rokkenjima, he was willing to take her away and spend the rest of his life with her, tried to do so and, when she tossed herself in the water, he put his life to risk by trying to save her.
This should imply that Meta Beatrice shouldn’t resent Battler anymore. She shouldn’t blame him anymore… and therefore she’s not trying to push her pain on him or to make him feel guilty because he had hurt her with his actions.
She’s not Piece Beatrice, who’s unaware of all this, just wants to know/test Battler’s feelings and is not ready yet to take her own responsibilities and face the consequences of her own actions…
