As a person who’s grown sick and tired of the modern Isekai genre (barring Tensura and Mushoku Tensei which I love), It’s nice to check out all the pre Sword Art Online’s Isekai out there and Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar ended up being one of my favourite Isekai’s.
There are two halves of the Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar. The mecha side and the slice of life school side. Out of the two, the mecha side is much stronger writing-wise, although the slice of life school side of Tenchi War on Geminar is just as good. One of Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar biggest strengths is how well structured the story was.
Is the writing perfect? Does it have flaws? Yes, but I feel like Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar has merit and charm to a point where I can overlook most if not all its times as unlike most Isekai out there, Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar is honest with itself.
