❓ How much CO2 does the average person emit?
⛈ Annual CO2 emissions figures are often used to compare countries’ contribution to climate change. But this metric often reflects differences in population size across the world.
💡 To understand the ‘footprint’ of the average person in a given country, the animation shows per capita emissions in four countries/’regions’: United States, United Kingdom, Europe-27, and China. It is interesting and puzzling to see the evolution since early 1998 (the Kyoto Protocol was signed on December 1997 – USA did not ratify).
