So, I admit I didn’t exactly have a great idea for the answer on this one, at least as far as making it interesting goes. Mostly I just wanted an excuse to draw Akane again. When she won the NHML raffle on September of 2018 I grew attached to her. Despite only seeing a couple episodes of Psycho-Pass, I found her very charming and likable. At the time I was wanting to draw a lot more of her, but the timing was never right and she eventually slipped from my mind. For this Ask I felt like it wouldn’t make much sense to pair her with anyone, and I was originally going to have her answer standing up. That would’ve still been fun, but then I thought maybe she could lie down and show the viewers exactly where the cocks she’s cocking about might go, were she to try them.

From MangaHelpers: This is a continuation of the story of Psycho-Pass, which takes place in a future world where it is possible to completely detect a person’s mental state. This technology is used by the Sibyl system to separate those who are judged to have the potential to commit crimes from the rest of society, and sometimes to execute them on the spot using a ‘Dominator’ gun. The detectives that hunt down criminals and potential criminals work in pairs of “Inspectors,” who are respected citizens, and “Enforcers,” who are expected to have insight into the minds of criminals. The story features Inspector Tsunemori Akane, who is now no longer a rookie detective, and introduces a new young Inspector named Shimotsuki Mika, who will join the fight against criminals and those judged to be potential criminals.

It’s probably safe to assume that many people in the world of PSYCHO-PASS carry a burden of some sort that stems from Sibyl preventing them from reaching their true potential or chasing after their true dreams. Even if some of the characters don’t voice their frustrations out loud like does, if one reads between the lines, a mild discontent with their lot in life can be detected, like Tsunemori’s friends Funahara Yuki () and Minase Kaori () in this episode. It’s this discontent and frustration that is hidden from Sibyl’s eyes that has tapped into. He is basically targeting true psychopaths that match the serial er profile – people who have ous intentions and ambitions inside them but can hide it from the world, and more importantly, from Sibyl’s eyes.

In this episode, we see the effects of Sibyl’s pervasive control over society rather than its extent – the cost that humanity must pay daily in this dystopian world. Although the possibility of a happy ending where someone in the show escapes or brings down the system is becoming bleaker with every episode, PSYCHO-PASS is still one of the most compelling shows of the season. He may not be a modern-day Shakespeare by any stretch, but Urobuchi Gen knows his tragedies.
